We just passed the halfway mark of 2020, a remarkable year for many reasons, including imploding economies in the U.S. and around the world:

During this time of peril, Bitcoin’s price under-performance has been perplexing for those who see it as a store of value/“digital gold”. At around $9,000 today, Bitcoin is down 20% in the last year, and off 55% off from it’s all time high recorded in January, 2018. Meanwhile, gold is up 25% in the last year, and is nearing it’s all time high, reached in September of 2011.

Is Bitcoin’s store of value narrative losing steam? Are there other narratives emerging? What impact is the rapid growth of DeFi and stablecoins having on the price of Bitcoin? As we look to the back half of 2020 and beyond, what are the near term and the longer term drivers of value for Bitcoin?
We’ve got a panel of three experts to share their views for 10 minutes each, leaving 30 minutes for interactive Q&A from the audience. Our three esteemed panelists are:
Mike McGlone — senior commodity strategist for Bloomberg Intelligence. Mike specializes in the broad investible commodity and crypto markets, authoring the monthly Bloomberg Commodity and Crypto Outlooks. Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2016, Mike was head of U.S. research at ETF Securities. Earlier roles included heading the commodity business at S&P Indices, head of futures research at ABN Amro and VP research at Aubrey G. Lanston /IBJ Futures. Mike has an MBA from DePaul University and a B.S. from Illinois State University.
Eli Mizroch — Founder and CEO, Silver Castle, an investment house for digital assets based in Tel Aviv. Eli is a recognized expert in digital currencies, their economics and finance. Prior to Silver Castle, Eli was a senior partner at TASC, Israel’s leading management consulting firm, and held various senior management positions at Bank Hapoalim and the Bezeq group.
Lou Kerner — Managing Partner at CryptoMondays, a digital currency advisory & investment firm, best known for starting the CryptoMondays Meetup group, active in 50+ cities around the world. Earlier in his career, Lou was an equity analyst at Goldman Sachs. Lou has an B.A. from UCLA and an MBA from Stanford.
